Looking for family beach vacation on the east coast....?

June beach vacation--4 of us. 9 and 6 year old. Any ideas other than a cruise?

We just actually looked up some "oceanfront beach condo's" in Emerald Isle, NC.. and they were pretty affordable.

Depends on what your children are into.. If you hit Virginia Beach.. you could go to the amusement park (Six Flags?) or Williamsburg..

Or, I've been to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, and went "crabbing" and to the Boardwalk there..

I heard the mecca for beach vacations with kids, though, is the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.. Expensive.. but once in a lifetime memorable..

Well, I live in Old Saybrook, CT. and I know that there are beach cottages for rent in the summer. There are some nice local beaches, the waves are not too big, because it is on Long Island Sound, not really the Atlantic Ocean. However, if you go to Watch Hill, Rhode Island, the waves there are bigger and the water a little clearer. Though with the young children you may just want a cozy spot to watch some sunsets and be a happy family, therefore Old Saybrook would suffice, in my opinion.

dude! you said you wanted a beach on florida's east coast. the gulf is west coast, but anyways...the truth is that almost all florida beaches are always crowded, especialy during spring break, which is when youre going. i would recommend biscayne national park. spring breakers like to party, and they wont party in a national park. that might be your best bet.

Look into Chincoteague Island, Virginia. Very relaxing, inexpensive and close to Williamsburg and Ocean City, MD.

Second that Tybee recommendation. Real relaxed, nice folks, lots of birds and very family friendly.
