I know that people love talking or showing off about their race to others, but is this really making us understand other peoples cultures more because they tell us or does it just seperate us from them because they are making it clear that they are different?

I'm not racist. I forgot to include in the details about comparing the question to you if you were a child to your current age now.

Cultures ARE different and to deny that breeds racism. Expecting everyone to be the same to feel the same and to act the same is ridiculous!!!

Its not the person talking that creates the problem, but the one listening. Are they respectful of the differences in the human species or do they use it as a way to prove dominance???

Listen carefully. There is only one race and that is the human race. We may have different cultures and different skin colours and different languages but we are definitely just one race.
Cultures can change from one end of a country to another as from one country to the next but they are still the same race. When will people realise this. That's why i think the term racism is a load of crap. It is not the correct term for what it represents. Perhaps it should be changed to cultural-ism or something, but i say again we are just one race on a small insignificant planet in one hell of a large universe. Personally i think the sooner people wake up to this the better off we will all be.

goes with the territory im afraid. Western Europe had a pretty sophisticated culture and Celtic Law ruled over most of that. There was mass migration to the UK etc then the Romans piled in. The upper classes aspired to being Roman (Romano-Celts) while the hoi poloi right up until recently retained their culture. Were now awash with what passes for American culture (whatever that is) and we're all suffering acculturation. The rise of Islamic fundementalism doesnt help with some calling for Sharia which is utterly alien to the West. People seem to try and define themselves in this context. Celtic Law and traditions are at the root of Western Culture. It was egalitarian and adapted to new influences. It was inclusive. Maybe we should go back to basics

In the first place, there is only one race of humans aka homo sapiens, and the continued misconception that there are multiple races only helps fuel the fire of bigotry, and promote the exclusionary tendancies of the ignorant "racial purity" organizations. FACT: Any human regardless of their color can mate and successfully reproduce with any other fully functional human. FACT: The more diverse the gene pool, the better the odds of a child from said pool being born with a greater compliment of desireable physical traits. FACT: the more zealous the conviction that one should mate only with verifiable members of their own "race" the better the odds of hereditary birth defects. FACT: Some of the most beautiful, successful, and intelligent people are those coming from a heinz 57, mixed background. And finally, FACT: Those who most adamantly oppose the idea of a single humanity, should really do the rest of us, and the gene pool the favor of placing a gun in their mouths and removing their defective DNA from the gene pool preferably prior to reproducing.

We are different races In this lifetime that will not change and the very fact that we are being told to think differently ,we wont , its just human nature. We just have to accept and live and let live, life is really too short to waste time trying to change the way people think.

I don't know anyone that shows off about their race or loves talking specifically about it. I know people who will discuss it if asked and I enjoy hearing about the different cultures my friends have but I've never encountered anyone like you describe.
