Both genders that qualify for a good job like teaching are good at the job. When I was in 4th Grade I had a man for a teacher. He was the best teacher I ever had in the world. I got 5 homework passes from him. He was very social with my class and was very understanding of us and of Technology. The rest of my teachers were women because women like the job better. Teaching doesn't pay much that men want but it is a good job to interact with children. I think both genders are a good choice to be a teacher...... but I root for men more....... but I also root for women.
The choice doesn't really matter

In my school days we had about half women and have men teachers. The women usually taught subjects like home economics, religion, languages whereas the men taught math, sports, physics and chemistry. In my kids' elementary school there is only one male teacher now and I think that's sad. Maybe it's because the pay is pretty low while the paperwork and demands increase. Male teachers are desperately needed especially grades 6 and up where the kids would benefit. Many children come from broken families, often where there is no dad. Having a male teacher who is kind but strong and respected really helps these kids. Also, I think there is more discipline with a male teacher. Best wishes.

What silly question to ask.The answer is crystal clear. Whoever is qualified to do the job and does it well. They also should have good character, be held to higher standard and have moral for God sake. I have had good male and female teachers. Gender is not a factor. If a teacher can get child wild about read, writing, math or science then what gender they are doesn't matter.

This is actually becoming a problem that there are a shortage of male teachers in this country because the men choose higher paying jobs. The state of MA has actually started a program to pay the college costs of males if they sign a contract to teach in the state for 4 years after graduation.

There are many articles on this problem:

Just google shortage of male teachers and you will find a bunch of them.
