I'd go to a hardware store or something like that and buy a tiny battery powered motor. From there you could build a variety of things (car, train, etc) with bits and pieces lying around the house (cardboard, plastic etc). You could even use the motor as a pulling device for a lift which could be made from a shoe box and some string. I think a small battery powered motor would be a good start. Good luck.
