I am currently 7 pregnant after a miscarriage at 13 weeks and I want to know what to expect when I fgo for a visit at 8 weeks. I am so nervous and want to know everything is ok, but at the same time I don't want to be a nag of a patient. Do most doctors take extra special care of pregnancies after only one miscarriage. I found my previous ob only offered an ultradound at 16 weeks and wonder what is normal.

Depends on why you miscarried. If there is a genetical problem, age, a chronic condition or anything that would lead the doctor to believe that there might be a repeat of miscarriage, then he has to be extra careful and treat you as a high-risk patient. If you miscarried without any of those, then probably something went wrong with baby's development which was not your fault at all and there was no way you could prevent it but it gives you an excellent chance to have a perfectly normal pregnancy this time. Yes, you have the right to be worried after what you went through and I am sure the doctor will understand that if you are more panicky than his/her other patients. Don't worry about how many ultrasounds they do in a pregnancy. Different doctors have different practices but if this pregnancy is going well, it will finish well no matter how many ultrasounds they do.

That will depend on the doctor. If the doctor has some concerns then they will take the necessary precautions to prevent anything from happening. Seven weeks may be too early because the baby is still so small, but they may. I am sorry but my youngest is 10 and ultra sound machines may have changed since my last child. Please do not feel that you are a nag of a patient, you have concerns real concerns that need to be discussed with the doctor, if you have an understanding doctor then that is 50% of the battle. If you feel that something is not right, then push, trust your instincts. They are usually right. Good Luck and take it easy..

All doctors are different so it is hard to say if they will do one or not. I can tell you after my first miscarriage the doctor was doing ultrasounds almost immediately after I found I was pregnant to check things out. I also got more than normal to just check on things.

With my second miscarriage I had a different doctor and when getting pregnant after that they did only one ultrasound to determine due date and that was the only one I ever received.

Depends on the doc. My first pregnancy ended with my daughter's heart stopped beating at 22 wks. My dr saw everything that I went thru and when I got pregnant again a year later, she was the most wonderful attentive dr. She knew all my fears and was always available to me whenever I would freak out. She would even fit me in to do an ultrasound a couple of times because I was just frantic that something was wrong. I got so lucky when I found her, so I guess it really just depends on the dr

I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and I'm currently pregnant again and went to my first OB appointment at 13 weeks and I was given an ultrasound.

most doctors Ive know have done an ultra sound at 6-8 weeks. they have said that the earlier ultra sounds are easier to predict the actual due date, because up until a certain point all babies develop at The same rate. they usually do a second one around the 5th month to check for any abnormalities.

If they have the transvaginal ultrasound machine in the office tell your doctor that you are worried and you want one. My doctor did this for me every time that I went because I was so paranoid. If he is a good Dr. he will do this for you. Good luck.

Let your doctor know about your concern. It may be bst if an ultrasound is done early, just to make sure everything is ok.
