All States are geared towards gaining greater control over the citizenry. The politicians and bureaucrats are always loathe to give it up, no matter how much it would benefit the people.
Perhaps it is more surprising that it took so long for the totalitarian state in the U.S. to develop. Nearly every president prior to Bush has taken steps toward less freedom and greater state control. But Bush has been a 'Great Leap Forward' towards a totalitarian regime.
Those who ignore history are condemned to repeat it.

Totalitarianism is a term used to describe regimes in which the state regulates nearly every aspect of public and private behavior.
Includied in the definition of totalitarianism is intolerance of activities which are not directed towards the goals of the state, such as involvement with labour unions, churches or political parties.
You could argue that some republicans are against unions, but no one would argue that they are against churches or political parties.
Totalitarian regimes maintain power by means of state-controlled mass media (do you think ABC, CBS NBC & CNN are state-controlled?), regulation and restriction of free discussion and criticism (And yet here you are - free to compare Bush to Stalin), the use of mass surveillance (on a much grander scale that wire-tapping calls to other countries), and widespread use of terror tactics (I haven't heard of any opponents to Bush being strung up!).
As I've said many times to the "Bush = Hilter" types, "Stick to facts. By making such ridiculous comparisons, you lose an opportunity to share REAL, VALID complaints. "

It's actually sad..and whats sadder is that people dont see this..they only see the so called "Good" (gagg!!) he is doing supposedly and cant see that anything good can be done in other ways rather than his way.
I was taught that we should learn about history so it doesnt repeat itself but sadly it always does. He's made every country hate us and is about to put us to war with korea and iran.
Very sad..and all these supporters..ugh!

It is hypocritical of him. What is even more amazing is that people who were under Stalin were writing to him, because they did not feel he was capable of such a thing. The same attitude that some of the American people have.

If it were true, like you surmised, then it wouldn't be funny at all . So why you chose the words you did leaves the reader wondering just how serious or intelligent you are .
