i would say it definitely isnt worth that much. each component listed except the video card and the monitor only cost dell at the most $50 per component, and the sound is on the motherboard. if you want a good computer you should find a shop around your neighborhood that builds computers from the ground up. generally you can build a better computer than one you buy from a major company like dell or hp.

What are you going to use this computer for? I would get the biggest and fastest HDD that they offer, a second DVD burner, 2GB of RAM, and a AMD or Intel Dual-Core processor. Vista is a real BEAR! Hardware upgrades will be a big cost factor in switching your computer to Windows Vista Operating System.

Unless you're a gamer, this is an OK pc.

The sound card is kind of a waste of money.

The FSB is horrible. No matter what you do to that machine, it will never be super-fast.

Everything else seems fine.

Bottom line: I would not pay $700 for it.
The main reason for the price is the HD. Computer manufacturers know that people want HD space. Look for a computer with a tiny HD, and great performance. Chances are, the price will be much better... then buy your own HD. (newegg.com is great!)

That doesn't sound like that great of a deal. Good processor, but low memory. 1 GB is the minimum amount of memory required to to run Window$ Vi$ta. Also for that price you should be getting a DVD burner at least, not just a DVD ROM drive. I would shop around more.

Make sure to buy a 3-4 year warranty. I bought a Dell last year and it gave me problems after 4 months. Dell just patched up the problems and I HATE MY COMPUTER!!! The DVD burner doesn't work anymore and it's been replaced once already. The memory had to be replaced! And now it's giving me more problems. I will never buy a Dell again. Good luck and don't forget the warranty!!!

Be sure to get all the disks for all the software and drivers.
Get the Microsoft XP or Vista disks with the registry keys.

After you get the system use the Dell Decrapifier

It seems to ok, but what is the Processor speed...my laptop is roughly 1.78GHZs, also make sure the graphics card is not integrated or else you can never switch it. Other than that is good

I would just build your own computer. what I did and I went for a gamming PC and built it for $1500.

www.newegg.com is a great site for buying computer componets. where I built mine. just remember that dell uses the most low end stuff and charge high dollars for it. unless you go for dell high preformance models .that again you can build for cheaper on your own on new egg.

Looks awesome. It'll handle almost anything you can give it. And if you need better graphics you can always switch video cards.
