There are a few companies who offer performance parts, including internals (rotating assembly) for those cavaliers. I have seen a supercharged 2.2L pre-ecotec cavalier running in the high 12s with a supercharger setup similar to that found on the cobalt SS. Check with GMPP, and then look around on performance store webpages, as i KNOW there are supercharger kits available, although they arent cheap...they are, however, cheaper and easier than trying to wedge a bigger motor into the car.

getting to the casting numbers could nicely be complicated... extremely the only thank you to tell, yet.... in case you will locate the numbers on the two your carb/throttle physique or transmission, you could bypass to a areas residing house and have them look them up. most of the time they could provide help to be responsive to in the event that they could be placed with a 350 or a 4 hundred. that could supply you the respond. In my journey, variations or new areas could be bought to place a 4 hundred right into a motor vehicle with a production facility 305 or 350 (the tranny/converter in superb condition too tight on a 4 hundred). they are all 8 cylinders and that i think of that they are all machined from the comparable difficulty-free sort. possibly somebody could help me out right here, yet would not a 4 hundred require a larger oil pan than a 350? i've got confidence the 305/350s are small blocks and the 400s are bigblocks. using fact it got here from a airborne dirt and mud music vehicle, it can be a 350 bored over to a 4 hundred. i'm assuming you have not have been given it torn down or you may look into the crankshaft. something you additionally can look into the 8th form on your VIN (for the engine length initially in the truck - if it extremely is a GM) and then see if it appears like your engine mounts have been changed or the exhaust manifolds appear like they in superb condition tight - not a precise answer, regardless of the undeniable fact that it may supply you a concept.

You can fit ANY engine in any car. That is why they make motor mount adaptors for. I am pretty sure you could put a 6 cylinder in. But then you have to get another transmission and maybe change the wiring a little. What about the shaft to the wheels if it if FWD. But if you asked this question then that shows you would not have the knowledge to do it yourself. Unless you got the bucks and take it to a shop to trick it out for you then.
Below is a URL and maybe you can contact the guy in the pics of his car to get first hand advice.

You shouldn't have any problem putting a Chevy big block in there. Go for the 500+ HP 572 cubic inch monster.

you can put a 3.1 v-6 in it and there's all kinds of add ons for that engine, but a good 3.1 runs real good to start with, some the cavaliers came with the 2.8,s in them, but a good 3.1 will really make it run good,i had a newer one with one in it,and it would smoke the tires on a dead start ,you might want to check into it though, those are good engines, and there's plenty of them around also, good luck,i hope this help,s.
