This is my first pregnancy and one of the ultrasounds was found to not look normal so now I have to have testing done. I'm going to have the chronic villi test with a catheder and others that I am not sure about. I am very afraid about what they will find out and also about getting these tests. I don't know if they are painful. I have never had a catheder. I am looking for anybody who has gone through this, if there is anything you can tell me about what you have been through. Please say a prayer for my baby. Also please don't respond by saying I don't need these tests because they tell me I do. Please don't write to me unless you have actually had these tests done because I already posted this question and most of the responsed were people who hadn't been through this telling me I don't them done. Thanks.

I had a few tests done with my pregnancy and they all turned out fine. The catheter is annoying, but bearable. Just relax and don't let this stress you out. You and your baby are going to be o.k.

I said a prayer for you, and me and my baby will say another one for you and your little one tonight.

Take care and think good thoughts.

I have never had the CVS test done but I have had 2 amniocentesis and they weren't exactly a picnic. I would imagine that the CVS is along the same lines as an amnio and it did hurt, not horribly unbearable, but was slightly painful. I felt pressure and was crampy for the next day. The emotional stress took more of a toll on me than the actual testing. You will need to be on bedrest for at least the rest of the day and possibly the next day. Try to do as little as possible.

I hope your little is just fine and I will say a prayer for the both of you.

Here is information on the test:

Why would you want this done? Just asking out of curiosity? If your ultrasound came up normal and all? Is there a history of genetic disorders in your family? I only ask because the miscarriage rate is 1-2% higher then that of amniocentisis, and for the record, about 1 in 200 pregnancies miscarry from an amnio done in the first trimester.

Be sure this is what you want. It's not necessary unless you plan on aborting should there be an abnormality.

Just relax now, a catheder is very uncomfortable, relax while they do this and sing a good song in your mind(a christian song is the best)
Think positive and say in your mind my baby is fine and it will be.
