I have recently cut out alcohol as I was really overdoing it. Now I cant sleep at night - I sweat, thrash about and if I do nod off I have seriously wierd and disturbing dreams. Then I have to drag myself out of bed to go to work. Constantly tired, no energy and my house is turning into a pig sty ! Think I'll go back on the bottle again as I feel worse now than before. Is this normal?

Whatever you do, DO NOT go back to boozing as you have discovered it is a stupid habit and solves nothing. Being drunk does not help you sleep it has the opposite effect in the long term as you probably recall. It is definitely worth taking a lot more exercise an hour or two before bed time, such as going on a 3 mile road run and making sure you sweat. Then when you get back have a warm relaxing bath filled with something like "sleep easy radox" in it.

It is OK to drink tea near bed time as that can help you sleep but steer clear of coffee. When you climb into bed think of something really nice, like that you are lying on a beautiful warm beach in a tropical paradise and scenery is beautiful, and lastly make sure you have your bedroom window wide open no matter how cold it is outside as that should make you sleep better and feel a lot better when you wake up in morning.

You may need to see your MD,quitting alcohol consumption after a time of over use,can be very difficult for the body to handle, and cause many problems just as you described. The Doctor may prescribe some med's that can help you feel better, and provide the much needed rest. Taking up the drinking again would really be a mistake.Take care. SW RNP

Or each and every from time to time nerve-racking about issues keep you up unsleeping. Meditation tapes also worked alot for me even as i flow via sleepless classes. in case you nevertheless can't sleep, only flow do some thing effective somewhat of nerve-racking about person-friendly person-friendly strategies to't sleep, so your wasted time, isn't wasted!

Exercise! Do some classes at a gym or go swimming or something. No exercise, or tea or coffee within 3 hours before going to bed though.

You will only feel bad for 2 weeks or so .You may also have some hallucinations.
Don't go back to drink you will eventually feel much better for it.
Also don't take tablets to help you go to sleep.
You may also be thinking about things to much but this will pass once you beat the drink your life will be happy again

It is normal. It takes time for your body to adjust. You've done really well to cut back on the alcohol. Stick with it, things will improve.
