In the Yahoo Sports section you can go to the stats section and get break downs of the teams. In that section there are abbreviation for different things such as G=Goals A=Attempts but some of the others are not so clear could someone tell me what the other initials mean? GFA,PIM, GA, GAA, SV, SO, EGA or maybe send me to a site that would explain it to me indepth

The only one the others missed was EGA. Which stands for Empty Net Goals Against.

Actually A is assists not attempts, attempts is SOG is for shots on goal.

GFA: The goals the goalies team scores per game
PIM: Penalty Minutes
GA: Goals Allowed
GAA: Goals Against Average (average goals given up per 60 minutes played if calculating an individual goalie its GA/GP to calculate for team)
SV: Save
SO: Shut out (how many times the other team is shut out not how many times you were shut out)
