How does it compare to the Pentiums.

Celeron is pretty much Intel's "value" processor. Although it's probably made with the same product quality Intel uses for all of their products, it has a few key differences when comparing it to the Pentiums.

It has half a gig of L2 Cache (depending on your model, it could only have 256KB), while the Pentium 4's with Hyperthreading (the lowest model Intel is currently selling, this excludes the regular Pentium 4's; there are also Pentium Extreme and Pentium Extreme with Hyperthreading) have 512KB or 1MB of L2 Cache. L2 cache helps with getting information from the memory faster. Also the Celerons have a 533MHz front side bus, while the newer Pentium 4's have, on average, an 800MHz front side bus. Lower models have 533MHz FSB. This pretty well connects the CPU to the memory and determines how fast your computer can possibly go (if you're looking at overclocking, for example).

So Celeron is pretty much the cheaper version of Pentium, minus all the features (such as hyperthreading, disable bit and speedstep). You can find out what these are by visiting Intel's site. Hope this helps you out.

whilst a Celeron is the best deal version of the Intel Processor line, it would desire to have a brilliant style of processing potential to run WoW. yet, the processor isn't the only determining element as to if or no longer you would be waiting to play a pastime on your notebook. Your Video Adapter and volume of reminiscence or RAM play a incredibly significant place on your skill to play a video pastime. devoid of that assistance, i won't enable you already know the way nicely your notebook will play the pastime.

celerons were probably designed as "affordability" processors. to the untrained mind all you think of in terms of speed is its core clock rate. when you get a processor you want to know what the FSB is and how big of a cache it has and how well you can overclock it. Pentium4 processors are better than celerons and P4's are on the bottom of the processor list.

Aside from the answers above (one of which was very good and complete) to do a comparison theat particular Celeron would be about equal to a P4 2.4 or 2.5 ghz. It will still give very good perfomance.
