The PSP is an excellent handheld. It has great games for everything you mentioned. Also consider how versatile the PSP is, since you can put music, movies, pictures, and anything else your heart desires on the memory stick. It's built in WiFi is also a bit better than the DS since it accepts better wireless security. The DS does have an excellent game library, but the PSP is quickly catching up with titles like Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid, Ratchet & Clank, NCAA football, Madden, NBA Live, and Devil May Cry to name a few. The only thing bad about the PSP is that it gets dirty easily and smudges are really apparent. Also, most of the kinks have been worked out, but just watch out for dead pixels. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions about the PSP.

The console really doesn't have many good games. The graphics aren't he best. The only thing i remotely enjoy about it is the ability to download music off of the internet but I have an iPod for that. The internet feature is faulty and doesn't really play flash well. I really recomend you get a Nintendo DS!

Yes, I recommend it. There are two handheld devices in the market now; PSP and DS. For the games you mentioned, PSP is ideal, with graphics similar to PS2 (if not better!), PSP is suitable for you.
