There are a few different ways to do this-
1. Go to a good school of design and earn a degree in Fashion design. Then you take the clothes you make to a buyer or enter a fashion competition. If you went to Parsons, you'd have a better chance at succeeding with this.
2. Let's say someone makes bridal gowns, they can take them to boutiques, stores, or trade shows, and start selling them. Eventually, if they do well, they would start marketing, advertising, etc and become popular. They might also use the great word-of-mouth technique to get noticed.
3. A spoiled, rich, talentless celebrity decides one day, "Oh, that making clothes stuff looks like fun! Who do I pay to do it for me??" Then, magically, everyone around the world buys the stuff, and the celebirty becomes richer, even though the celeb probably never drew a sketch or touched a fabric sample in their life.

I started off with a Junior sewing job making karate suits, few more sewing jobs gaining more experience then onto becoming a sample machinist and doing fashion & pattern cutting at night school. In my spare time at work i was making clothes for family & friends, i had that many orders i gave my job up, came up with label : Plur Couture,
went to my bank asked to open a business as a "sole trader" which is the same as a normal bank account only you have a business card and cheque book that you can use in wholesalers, then i opened an ebay shop,
Now i can stay at home look after my daughter, be my own boss, and do a job i absolutley love doing.

Good Luck......hope this helps

Wow, what idiots!!! I don't think we're talking about a "clothing line" you hang your clothes out on to dry...

You design/make your own fashions... or you invest a lot of money in someone who is willing to sign with you...

Just make one with a length of plastic roping.
Attach it between two poles and..Hey presto...a clothing line.

They tie the clothing line to two posts in their own garden and hey presto, it belongs to them!
