he gave me the keys and let me drive away.... then he raised the price to 800... i kinda understand why because nobody gives a car away for two hundred down, and so it seems understandable he would raise the price, but im mad cause he said six... so today i plan to give him five hundred, i said you said six then went to eight, lets meet in themiddle and do seven, so if i give him five hundred today, that seems like it would be fair, and im NOT paying over five hundred, i wont. im putting my foot down. i learned my lesson to get everything in writing, what do you think i should do?

You leaned your lesson - Just don't make the same mistake again. Try to negotiate like you said.

Get the title of the car for 600 or tell him to give the 200 back.

If there is nothing in writing then both of you cant do anything. If he trys to get the cops after you...your name is not signed on anything, and the same goes for you. Tell him he said 600 and he is lucky your giving him 7.

unless you already have the title, you will have to continue paying, or give the car back! Learn your lesson and get it in writing next time!

He said $600 and that's what he should be selling it for. If he doesn't want to do that, then get your money back. I have a strong suspicion he's trying to take advantage of you. Don't let him do that to you.

I agree, if he told you $600 the first time that is what you should only have to give him. You should not have to give him anymore than that.

i would have gotten it in writing

700 sounds fair and if he says no then demand your cash back and give him the car back

if again he says no then take him to small claims court
