I had my mind set to a PD but i heard AMD is better. So which i better a PD 3.40 ghz with 800 bus speed and 2x 2mb cache. Or the AMD 64 X2 4200+ 2.2ghz. Both good overclockers? With afterstock heating or liquid cooling?

With the money you would spend on the cooling, you could just move up to a core 2 duo, the fastest cpu out there.

AMD 64 X2 and Pentium D is not a good comparison.
For an appropriate comparison you should compare AMD 64 X2 to Intel Core 2 Duo.
You will be wasting your time investing in Pentium D. If you have no choice other than Pentium D i would go with the AMD 64 X2.

If your a "gamer", go with the AMD processor. They run slightly cooler than the Intels do. I know that AMD has overclocking options built into their BIOS. I would NOT recommend that you overclock any processor. That is too hard on the processor and other components in your computer. The chance of burning up the processor is always present. So, if your not prepared to fork out another $300-$500 for a new processor, don't overclock!

the amd 64 x2 4200 +2.2ghz its AWSOME reason for that is because amd processes the information differently then the intel. an amd 64 is percise enough to where it can take the entire project and process it without breaking it into different parts unlike and intel processor. so i would recommend the AMD 64

Out of the two you listed the AMD is very much better.
I am not sure about the overclocking. I know that the AMD listed has a locked multiplier. I am not sure about the Intel.

The AMD chips is all the rage. It is the flavor of the month.
Well, Intel is no slouch. Their product is equally good.
To me it is a toss up.

I would get the AMD 64x2 5200+ 2.6
the one I have in my putter and it rocks. if you game just get the AMD as thats what most gammers use over intel.
