Of course they have to go to school.
Here in snow country the schools close for extreme bad weather but the kids have to make it up at the end of the school year.
Contact your school district.
That having been said, I would like to add that if your child does not have the appropriate clothing (thermal, with a hat and gloves and face mask) for being out in that weather, even for what you think may be only a few minutes, then that would be an exception in my book.
This country has had some pretty strange weather in some places, like snow in Malibu and downtown Phoenix, where people are not prepared at all for the cold. If this describes your situation then keeping your child at home is not only prudent but necessary.

Depends on where you live and if you personally think its a bad idea for the kids to go. We live in northern Wisconsin in the middle of the country. They cancelled school yesterday because it was -25 and if one of the busses broke down the kids could be caught in the cold for a while. Today, it was -10 when I woke up and school was running on time. My mom always said if you feel its not right to send your child, that is your decision.

There should be a local radio or tv station where you live that tells you if they are open or not. Where I live if the roads are good to travel they will get them there. We were out 2 days last week for the flu. You might try and call the school or board of education or someone you know that works there. Good luck!!!

In malta, usually we have high temperatures except for winter so often we have to go to school when temperatures are above 20 or even 30 with very high humidity which makes things worst!!!

You have to watch the local news or listen to radio to find out if your district is closed or not normally tempurature alone will not close the schools but I have heard some places have been Sooo cold they have closed schools There should be a phone number you could call also to find out about delays and closures.

Are you serious??? Kids here don't get out of school until it is AT LEAST -30 F. Send them to school. A little cold weather shouldn't get in the way of their education.

There's not a general rule on it. It depends on your individual school district. The best way to find out is to call the school in question and just ask.

Call your local school board as this would vary country to country, state to state, province to province. Call the school itself..unless you are the kid, of course and have a test today. LOL.
