As you know, ethanol is more commonly known as "Ethylic alcohol". These terms interest not similar chemical stuffs, since "Ethanol" is anhydrous hence pure alcohol while "Ethylic alcohol" covers all the range of the house-hold alcoholic stuffs.
I ignore anything reaction involving metalic copper and "Ethanol".
Easily, "Ethylic alcohol" may containts several organic compounds as carboxylic acids. The latters run a late but possible reaction on copper surface.

You must remember alcoholic stuffs HIDE several organic compounds.

I hope this helps you.

As already stated there is no reaction between ethanol and copper.

Even though ethanol can dissociated slightly to give H+ ions, it is a fact that Cu won't react with H+ ions.

Moreover copper won't form ligands with ethanol.
