While I can't give a more accurate answer, I can certainly tell you Jesse James is incorrect. While being interviewed during one of his shows, he stated he in fact, wasn't a mechanic, he only welds stuff and makes it loud. Also, West Coast Choppers does not accept any service work at their shop, none.
