Not often.
For "targeted" advertising a response rate of 1% is considered OUTSTANDING! That's when companies are sending a piece of mail (that costs at least $.50, usually more like $1.00) out.
Newspaper, radio and TV ads are considered VERY effective with with response rates in the range of .01%. These are very expensive too.
Internet ads get to millions of people so response rates of .0001% are sometimes acceptable. So if one in 10,000 people buy yhe product they consider it a success.
Don't click indiscriminately, it only encourages them. Don't "click through" on spam emails even if you think you want the product. That helps the stats and results in more spam. Use your preview mode and then do an independent search for the product if you really are interested that way the email spammers DON'T get credit for "the click through".

No Never.
For the fear they will inundate me with spams. If I am curious, I place the mouse, read the URL that appears at the bottom, retype that in the space in IE and go from there. Although, that is also rare. I may have done it like this may be once.....
There is nothing on the internet that I cannot get on my own. I do not need to click on any ads. I guess it is just me.
I will put this question on my watch list because it is interesting. I want to know how many do this way.

Current "Click Through Rates" or number of times a banner is clicked by viewers is about 1% of the time.
CTR has been steadily declining year by year as more people become wise about ignoring the claims and the damage potential of jumping off to unknown sites.

I do if it's super interesting & a good looking site. I won't if it's something common like MSN or something you see everywhere you go, but that's not to say that the ad didn't work. I may see that ad and decide to go to the website later.
