San Antonio was a great city to choose in Texas. It's all you want to know in Texas. I had a whole list of stuff to do, but after I read you were pg'ed that's out. I was going to suggest Wonder World, but it's lots of walking, and it's north of S.A. so more driving for you would be bad.
Visit the website below to find out more!
Most restaraunts in S.A. have a kids eat free night on Tuesdays! So heads up for that! You might want to think about sea world, if the kids are really excited go for it, but Fiesta Texas might be a better pick. Sea world has kinda gone down hill. Museums are a great idea, you could always get a wheelchair which i wouldn't pass up!! Lots of walking in S.A. I would ask your hotel if they drop off and pick up, because parking is a hassel. I would definatley check out the river walk and the Alamo. If you want some true Mexican food you must go to Mi Tierra which is in the "El Mercado" area. It's decorated like mexico and the food is great! Don't go too late because the tequila is cheap! lol, it is open 24 hrs also. There are lots of little shops in that area, parking isn't bad there. Um, I would also suggest, going out on a limb here, driving to Galveston, it's about 1-2 hrs. away. I would only suggest this if you guys have never seen the beach! It is so beautiful and not many tourists this time of year! Go down and see the STRAND. another little shopping district with a great icecream parlor! It's like a board walk!
GOOD LUCK & have fun!

Heads up SA is extremely hot in the summer and the parks are crowded. If you've ever been to DisneyWorld in the summer then you know what I'm talking about. My suggestion is that you stay at the Radisson (make reservations early if you're visiting in the summer because it's not a big hotel). This hotel is very close to SeaWorld's entrance so that you can leave the park for a few hours to rest up and maybe get a bite to eat then return. The food at SW is NASTY and expensive. I promise you won't think it was worth the money. There's a McDonald's right outside the park or better yet if you want to sample some great Texas Barbecue then head to Rudy's, their sauce is the best; they were featured on Food Network a couple of years back. Rudy's is also right outside the park. SeaWorld is pricey and if you plan on visiting for more than one day it would be worth it to buy a Season Pass. You know it may even be cheaper than a day pass...I can't remember. Here's a suggestion: you might want to get a pass, spend one entire day at the park and then go in the evenings only, for the remainder of your stay. At that hour the crowds have died down some and the 100 degree temperature is maybe down to 89 or so. The River Walk is a must see. You and the kids will love riding the barge down the river. My suggestion is that you do this at nightfall when all the lights are flickering and the sun is no longer draining you of all your energy. It is so beautiful! It's a must!! The Rain Forest cafe is on the riverwalk which is always a good experience for the kids or if you want to save money just eat at Rivercenter Mall, it's on the riverwalk, too. Mi Tierra is a VERY popular Mexican restaurant with the tourists and locals alike. Their food is okay, if you have a sweet tooth you'll love their pastries; deciding among the dozens of delightful sweets will be the problem. Make sure you prepare yourself once again to meet up with the crowds. This restaurant is downtown so if you decide to eat there make it on a day you're visiting the Alamo and Riverwalk. Let me tell you though where the locals like to go for very good Mexican food that happens to be on the same side of town as SeaWorld. It's called Perico's. On Mondays regardless of the time you go their fajitas (a Texas favorite) are like 11 bucks; this will feed small portions to a family of 4, and the Margaritas are 2 bucks. Our daughter likes going on Thursday evenings though because they have an all female Mariachi group playing. You won't be disappointed with their food it's really good if you like Mexican dishes. SA has a nice zoo but if your city has a zoo you may not think this is anything special, I don't know. For a cute souvenir for the kids you may want to visit Build-a-Bear for Spurs jerseys for their bears or maybe even western duds. If you choose to do a day trip Austin is about an hour and a half drive away. It's a very hip town, it has a different flavour from SA, an atmosphere all its own. The Austinites are very proud of their city. This is really all I can think of right now. If you have any other questions post them here. We'll respond. Have a wonderful trip to SA, pace yourself, pack shorts (that's all you'll need), hats, and plenty of sun screen.

I live here in SA and love it here but some of these suggestions above I'm not too sure of. Here's my take...
Sea World-yeah, 2 days trip. Seeing the shows then seeing the animals would be fun. There are also roller coasters and other rides now. I think there's even a new one to debut in the spring.
Fiesta Texas-make this one day or even 2 days as well. Just as fun as Sea World.
Downtown-now here is where I might stray from the rest. I'm assuming you're coming sometime in the summer maybe spring. Downtown is nice but INCREDIBLY HOT during these times. Remember there are crowds everywhere on the Riverwalk so that adds to the heat. You being from Minnesota, I'm not sure how your kids and yourself would take it. Easily 100 degrees in the summer with heat index at about 105. I guess it would be like me (SA resident) going to Minnesota during the winter. I know I wouldn't take it. So maybe just visit Rivercenter Mall downtown then visit the Alamo but that's about it. They're right next to each other. Just ask anyone who works in the mall where the Alamo is and they should be able to point to the direction. Oh...one more thing...maybe check out the Tower of the Americas. It's the big needle tower in the middle of downtown. You could maybe have lunch on the top. It's about 750 ft up so I hope you're not afraid of heights. Also for maybe for a less hectic day and an escape from the Texas heat...try checking out the Pallidium movie theater in the La Cantera area. A movie theater??? Yeah, it's really, really nice. It won't disappoint..I promise :-)
As you can see, San Antonians love their town. I hope you have a great time and take my advice to heart.

It's interesting to walk and shop El Mercado and eat lunch or dinner there. I suggest seeing the IMAX movie about the Alamo, then seeing the Alamo itself. There is also a nice park you can drive that connects all the missions. Buckhorn Museum is downtown as well, and it's pretty neat. Good childrens museum across the street from that as well. Go to Gruene, walk around the shops and eat at The Gristmill (good food, great river views) If you want to relax for a few, go to Dave and Busters and give them a handful of quarters. They have an excellent resturant as well. On 10 west right out of the loop, there is a good place that has putt-putt, go-cart, batting cages, etc. Another good town to visit is Bandera, very old west looking place, and you will see local cowboys riding thier horses in town to hit the watering holes. Take the kids to the Magic Time Machine for dinner one night, they'll love it! Have fun!

well u have a good choice. seaworld is sooo much fun we are planning to go to during spring break..but u can also go to fiesta texas its like the same like seaworld but there are no animal shows or anything educational there if thats what you are looking for. but they have mostly rides. you can also take a trip to the alamo or the riverwalk.....the alamo is pretty cool. they have like stuff about what happened during the battle of the alamo and stuff like that. and if you have a sports person in your family go to a spurs game. and also maybe like 20 or 25 miles away is a town called san marcos and they have a outlet mall and its a really nice place to go they have plenty of stores there...well i hope this helps....have a good trip!!

You have to go have dinner on the river walk one night. Its neat. How old are the kids? They have boats that go down the river and tell about the history of that part of SanAntonio. Don't know if they'd be interested in that or not. There's the Alamo too. Sea World is a two day trip. Usually they sell two day passes. One day you go see all the fish & shows and the second day you go to the water park and play all day.
