The Hydel Dam is created on a river course to block the water. The water upstream thus collected raises its level and fill the reservoir behind the Dam. When this water is allowed to fall downstream, it falls with a great force. That flow of water is used to rotate a turbine. The turbine is basically an arrangement that when rotated in a magnetic field produces electricity. Thus Hydro electricity is generated.
