The worst horror film I saw was Necromantic (or somesuch silly spelling).

I am not sure if it was supposed to be horror, or comedy or porn or just plain junk. Avoid, really.

To me, a good horror film is one which implies threat and danger and menace, yet at the same time leaves it that way... implied but never seen openly.

Like the haunting (or was that the haunted... bad memory, sorry) the old black and white film - not the remake - or the turn of the screw (sorry not so sure on names).

I think a great horror movie has got be something that could really happen to you.I don't much get into the ghost stories, or aliens. Serial killer movies and movies about cults are always good.It has to have a sense of dread to make any of that work.I don't know if I could name just one favorite.Texas Chainsaw Massacre would be close. The worst would be any so called horror movies made in the last 10 or 12 years with the exception of a few.

I think a great horror film is pyschologically scary just as much as bloody and gorey. I like almost all horror movies for various reasons. My favorites would probably be the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Ring, House of 1,000 Corpses, The Exorcist (original) and The Birds. Least favorites would be Hostel and Wolf Creek. I don't really like the torture-type movies. It isn't scary to me- just gross. Good luck on your speech.

A. Horror- An intense, painful feeling of repugnance and fear. In other words, if it scares the crap out of you, its a good horror film. However, I dont mean scare as in a dead guy suddenly pops out of nowhere. What I mean is, even though you know its there, you're scared. Even though you know what kind of person the villain is, you're scared. Even though you know what's going to happen, you're scared. And Etc. etc.

B. The original Amityville Horror is one of my favorites. And The silence of the lambs, while not really a horror in the way most people think of it, is among my favorite movies as well.

C. Too many to list.

I like movies that are about real life horrors such as serial killers. They should be unpredictable. Seven with Brad Pitt was REALLY good all the way through (not sure if it's horror) especially the ending because it was unexpected. The Messengers looks good although I haven't seen it. It looks creepy good because we don't think those things happen but do we REALLY know? LOL The actors have to be GOOD actors, not just people reading the lines. Realistic facial and body movements are important. The movie has to seem like it's real life to scare me.

A) A great horror film has to be unpredictable. Most of the time when I'm sitting around watching horrors, I'm bored out of my mind going, "okay now the girl's gonna fall and the monster is going to kill her".

B) The one's that have scared me the most are devil/demon ones... The Omen, Amityville Horror, of course house of a thousand corpses was pretty good too. The exorcist... etc.

C) Attack of the killer clowns from outer space (although I still love it)

Insidious grew to become into frightening. in case you're searching for for gore, attempt the break of day of the ineffective from the 70s. in case you definitely need to flow all out nasty inspect jap horror movies. "Audition" is expounded to the nastiest element i've got ever considered. There are a super sort of movies in that form, some are the two nasty and humorous, like "device female". they have lots on netflx streaming. the two Rob Zombie video clips are additionally nasty, and definitely nihilistic. would be unable to remember the names off the precise of my head.
