Are you trying to suggest that all policies should only be enacted if they are good for everyone? Because for better or for worse, everything political always has a winner and a loser. When you build bombs, those bombs might hurt somebody, but the engineers that design the bombs, the companies that make them, and the soldiers that use them all have jobs as a benefit. Thats just as an example. I can apply that same principle to pretty much anything you can put out there, including immigration, abortion, military policy, fiscal policy, international relations, etc. Im sure there is something somewhere it may not work on, but not too much.

Newton's 3rd law I believe states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Were we to extrpolate this into the political arena it is obvious to see that any politically motivated agenda is going to have people who do not agree with it and thus will be hurt by it - possibly.
The simple fact is, ANY agenda will have opposing factions. Some may be a little more vehement in their objections.
Does the ends justify the means? I will steal a line from Star Trek here: The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few - or the one.

Yes, my politics hurts Hillarys chances of becoming Pres.. I find that her political past and future is despicable and harmful to our country.

Smiddy has been trying to wrap his politics in big fluffy goose-down pillows, to avoid inadvertent injury to others in passing. it's proving rather difficult, but we persist.

no, the end is almost always personal gain or notoriety, not public interest. it may not hurt others as much as take away opportunities to improve their situation.
