Being its the 200th anniversary of the abolition of British slavery it reminded me of when i first watched it since then i have read the book . I was moved by it but i like to know other peoples views and feelings.

Yes, I remember the tv series very well. Kunta Kinte was the main character, wasn't he? It was one of those series that really sticks in your mind - it was so moving, and it is also very striking that the events covered happened relatively recently in a supposedly civilised society. It would bear repetition, I think.

The Book.... it's brilliant...

Needless to say if you plan to read it, take about 3 months out of normal life, or glue the book to your face for a few weeks as it is a rather large - and long-winded book, but I read it when I was 15 and thought it was brilliant, whether you agree with some of the views it expresses, or disagree, you can't fail to notice it's literary brilliance.

Jeeez that takes me back....Kunta Kinte, Chicken George, Kizzy....it was a brilliant series....and what made it even more brillliant is that I can still remember it today after watching it many many moons ago....sign of a great programme.

yes i read the book and saw the series and the book was much better 100% .

Amazing TV series. I remember when it came out there had been nothing like it before.

I was still at school when the series was on tv, from what i remember it was excellent and moving.

I felt sorry the blacks had to go through that crap, But we are still suffering as a society today because of it.

i watch it on tv.first time around and it was good.but i was shock
years later.to find out it was a pack of lies.

one of my favourite dvd's. i got told it wasn't really true but i don't care cos i loved it.
