The trend has been around for a long time (like since the 60's), but the sayings seem to have gotten funnier and more risque.

i wouldn't call it a trend, just people wearing what they want to wear.
everyone wears black shirts, but that's not a trend, its just a shirt that someone wanted to wear that day!!

it's the trend cycle. they did that in the 70s too, or at least that's what my dad says

Uh, people have been wearing funny t-shirts since t-shirts were invented. Or atleast since the 70's.

well as frued once said with every joke their is a bit of truth hense which makes it funny. people who wear t shirts with funny saying on it are either striving for attention, want to make a statement, or if you are an unfortunate soul like my husband his wife bought him all his tshirts with the funny sayings on it and he is forced to wear them.
