I have all of the necessary info to look at my ex's reports, but I dont want to get into any legal trouble doing this. Actually, Im not even concerned with what his credit looks like, I just need his current address! I swear!!!

...Lets get this straight! He is not my Ex husband, hes the fathe of my child! And further more, I am not stalking him. He owes over 7k in back child support an the Texas Attourney General's office claims that they dont have a current address for him. Why spend MY money on a lawyer when I can just pull his credit report my self? Just thought it might be nice to see aprox. 7k added to my savings account!

It depends upon the reason for pulling a crediit report. I am not sure yours is good enough, unless you are still married. I would call transunion, equifax, or experian and ask them. You can find out for a fee where he lives @ www.usa-people-search.com.

From the Fair Credit Reporting Act: § 619. Obtaining information under false pretenses [15 U.S.C. § 1681q] Any person who knowingly and willfully obtains information on a consumer from a consumer reporting agency under false pretenses shall be fined under title 18, United States Code, imprisoned for not more than 2 years, or both. So......toast his butt! Contact your local prosecutor and request that they pursue criminal charges. Contact the credit bureaus and obtain whatever info they have regarding their disclosure (email, date, how requested...). If he paid for it, that's even better as it provides an excellent paper trail. If the prosecutor won't work with you hire an attorney. Most prosecutors are busy with drug cases and other "real" crimes and don't want to waste their time with such a case. You need to force the issue.

yes it is illigal, yes companies check peoples credit report with there permission, anyway who cares if its illigal your only trying to get his address not use his identity go onto a site that you have to pay for it becuase you can get a free one but that would not be fair to him becuase you can only get it once a year.if he is your ex why do u need his address anyway hope your not stalking him. and sometime if he does not report his new address it may not be on his credit report unless he could have opened up a new line of credit.

I am no lawyer, but I would say Yes, it is illegal. It is an invasion of privacy, especially if he is your ex and you are no longer legally married. I would contact the lawyer who handled your legal affairs when you were divorcing and ask him for counsel on obtaining the address you are seeking

I don't think so since companies check other people's credit reports all the time.

It's an invasion of privacy.....but to call it a crime, they have to prove intent.
It could be actionable in civil court though.

The best thing your husband did is get rid of you. Obviously you are trying to justify more than just looking.
