I am in need of a new hobby to fill up my spare time. When I am not at work, I have college work that needs to be done, and when I have done my quota for the day I find it too easy to just sit back and watch TV. I have thought about photography, but I don't have a car so I can't go too far afield every time I want to take pictures and the local area is all that interesting. Does anybody have any ideas?

If you like taking pictures, you don't have to go to far. You could start a blog about what is happening in your town.
There is this lady (or I think she is a lady as she does not use her real name) who's doing a blog about the town where I live. I like being noisy and read what she is up to. and also it is nice to look at pictures of my town from a different angle.
... it is just an idea....

If you want to go out and meet nice people and have loads of fun, try joining an amateur dramatic or operatic society. You can act, sing, dance, or work behind the scenes if you prefer, and it's great! You could be a big asset if you're keen on photography, too.

From the brief account of your routine, it seems that you need something that will take your mind off your college and paid work. Something that will give your body a workout and some exercise to keep you fit. I suggest you join a climbing club and start with indoor climbing. It is good for de-stressing and will give you a good social life to boot.

I have recently started going to latin american dance classes and it is brilliant! You could get a bike and go further afield. You do not need to go far to take pics, things that look good in pics are everywhere.

Try learning guitar. You can get a good starter acoustic pack for $150 on musiciansfriend.com. At cyberfret.net (it might be .com) you can find out how to play any style of music.

how about using the money from your job to save up for a car or just rent one when you need to get around.
