Anytime I have a discussion about my salary or our partnership I specifically ask the owner to keep it between us, but somehow his daughter always finds out (she works here as well under me) and she tries to weaken my position behind my back. How should I approach this situation?

There is no way to approach it to your full satisfaction. If the owner wants to talk to his daughter, he will. Her trying to weaken your position behind your back is very understandable, since she probably hopes to own the place one day.

The most radical way for you to rectify this situation is to get outside financing and buy the owner out. Once you are the owner, the former owner's daughter will probably quit, since there won't be a hope for her to inherit the place...

You are in a very touchy situation. It is difficult enough to work in a family business, and even more difficult when some of the family members are your subordinates. It is genuinely difficult, if not impossible to realize any type of authority over these individuals.
You are probably not going to get your employer to keep his mouth shut, no matter how hard you try.
If you feel you are underpaid (hey, who doesn't)
Entertain some other offers of employment, and use them to bargain with your current employer. But be prepared to walk. You may be saying, "I feel obligated to give them two weeks notice." Just remember, few people who have been laid off or terminated have been given ANY notice.
