This humming that is louder than the regular sound seems to be occurring after the computer has been on for a while, and it sounds literlly like a motor of some sort. If I restart, it sometimes goes away, then comes back later. Sounds like something is just spinning away as I write this, but everything appears to be working fine. If you're like me, noises are a bad sign and there, drive me nuts. Any suggestions? A fan perhaps?

Indeed, maybe your fan is broken. Than the sound should be coming from the back of your computer, where the fan is usually situated. You should replace is than.
Or it could be something else. Is the sound coming from inside the computer and is your computer working slower than usual? Than it could be your computer is in need of a good cleansing... In that case try the freeware 'easyclean' (you can google for it). That should get rid of unnecessary files without harming your computerprogrammes.

Check out:

and download this program called speedfan... it will check your temperatures of your drives/processors in your computer and will tell you if theyre too hot, how fast your fans are running, and other stuff... if anything has a red arrow pointing up or a flame, you probably have a bad fan... or a fan dying or something along those lines...

could be the fan , if you start to smell a burning smell, you will need to replace something and do it fast as you can damage everything else.

Take out the CD from the CD-Drive if you are not currently using it.

If you have important stuff, I would backup in case your hard drive
is dying.
Could also be fan, or disk drive.
