I have a friend who left his wife and family for the "other woman". He was having an affair with a co-worker. He claimed he was not happy with his married life and wanted more. He has only been separated/divorced for 10 months. He moved in with the other woman two months ago. Now he is having trouble making ends meet financially. He does not pay child support even though he is supposed to. He has no friends other than her friends - except for me and I do not see him much anymore. It was as he if he simply walked away from everything and everybody he knew. Even his son only sees him every other weekend! I am worried about him. He has given up everything for this woman who is ten years younger than he is. Can their relationship possibly last? Will he wake up one day and realize that maybe leaving his wife and son and everything they built together was not such a good idea? What do you say to someone like this? Or do I say nothing and let him learn the hard way?

No it defintiley was not worth it now was it? He had better get a job and start paying child support or he will be in BIG trouble someday with the courts and things and he will have to pay it all back or go to jail. You have to let guys like this learn the hard way. Walking and running away is never the answer. You can talk to him but i dont feel it will do any good. Someday something will happen to him to wake him up and make him realize that what he is doing is just not right. When that happens and only then will he wake up and want to start to change. He is one of these guys that will learn the hard way because nothing else works or sinks in.

everyone has to learn by their own mistakes, he won't see it as a mistake for a while, he is so into her he doesn't have time for anything else. the woman may also be controlling and needy. for awhile he will eating it up, flattered that a younger woman would want him, but after awhile it too will get old and boring, and one of them will step out on the other. unfortunately he doesn't care what he had with the wife, all he can see is the other woman right now. but things will change in a year or so.

he's gonna learn to the hard way even if you do decide to tell him how you feel. but you would think that his own flesh and blood would be more important to him then a woman who would date a married man and take him away from his family or in this case his son. not even trying to support him that will eventually bite him in the butt the hardest .he apparently is not thinking very clear and is selfish and is only thinking about what he wants. because his son should come 1st and formost and every thing else can be put off or changed.

let him learn the hard way. he took it upon himself to ruin his family, and he will end up ruining himself. he needs to learn that his actions have consequences. it doesn't sound like this relationship will work out beyond anything but sex, and he is so stuck up her a** that he will not even notice the warning signs when she starts to cheat on him. i have been there, i was the wife at one point. we weren't married but we were supposed to be the month after he decided to leave me for his ex. who cheated on him and doesn't respect him at all. and they are getting married in 2 weeks. and what he doesn't realize is that she will completely change after she has that ring on her finger because she has him. he is doomed to live a life of hell.

and i hope his wife never takes him back. she can find someone better.

It's never worth it. They get bored and in a year or two he will either be looking for another or she will. He will have given up everything he had to be with this woman who he thinks is so great, but when he wakes up every day the pit in his stomach will consume him....

If you want to remain his friend keep your mouth shut. If you say you should never have left, it's not like you are supporting his decision. If you say, look what you have now, and it doesn't work, you screwed up. Best thing is to just keep your opinion to yourself and support him as your friend no matter what his choice is. My husband took up with the younger woman, we both lots lots of mone and friends, some sided with one or the other of us. Rule of thimb is you're danmed if you do and damed if you doen't.
