i need different types of shadow to create different looks
what are best for...
shimmer?
smokey eyes?
dramatic colors?
and for natural look to contour and highlight?
something that would stay on and go on smoothly...

For dramatic colors, smokey eyes, and shimmer, MAC and NARS have the best selection. Natural: Bobbi Brown and Lorac have some really nice colors.

ALL are in the Almay collection they have the best glitter eye shadow, they do great shimmer colors and smokey adn the dramatic and the natural colors!

Im not keen any other brand of eyeshadow other than MAC. Its super pigmented and it stays on for ages without creasing. If I had to choose some other brands for eye shadows I would probably choose Chanel or Urban Decay.

The line I would definitely recommend to you is probably Iman the colors are dark and subtle if that is what you are looking for .
HIP is also good it just makes your face just pop because their colors are bright they have a really nice green that is kind of Lime or a little brighter then that it looks good on almost every skin tone if you are really tanned you shouldn't use it but its good on every other skin tone.
Mac products are also very good to get eyeshadow and if you go to Macy's they will allow you to test out the colors too.
Clarins is good for skin care and makes your skin smooth so you don't have any lines on your eyelids.Or around your eyes .It also takes away your bags if you have bags under your eyes.

Mac is wonderful for Dramatic color
Lancome is great for shimmer/smokey and natural they have alot of wonderful colors that don't fade or crack

Lancome' a little pricy, but they last and they have a wide range of colors that you can blend together. Their colors are wonderful and they have different types of looks. You can find Lancome' in Dilliards or Filenes if your in the east coast.
But if you wanna spend less, maybelane has some of the best stuff as far as colors, lasting and effects.

Only thing you need is LIQUID eye shadow. It doesn't matter what brand it is. Liquid will always stay on longer than powder, especially if you use a neutral base powder shadow first.

MAC has the best makeup EVER!! Its a little pricey, but it lasts FOREVER!! I have had that same eyeshadow for about a year and I still don't see the bottom of the container!!! Try it, I know you will love it!!

MAC, Mabeline, L'Oreal HIP...there are lots. My suggestion is go to Sephora, MAC or a department store and ask them to make over your face. Then you can see what the colors look like on you before you decide to buy them :-)
