Since when did the evening news need feel good stories? If she wanted to continue this kind of journalism, she should have stayed on the Today Show, or joined 20/20, Dateline or 48 hours!

Does anyone feel, as I do, that a 30 minute national newscast should stick to the news? Isn't there enough news internationally to fill this time slot? And if they have extra time, why don't they use it to educate Americans about important international news issues?

Even though I like Katie Couric a lot, I agree with you. The news in this country are a shame! I mean any of the news shows I see here on TV. Why are there not enough news about international issues? It would benefit everybody to learn to be a little more global ...

Katie made a huge mistake leaving the today show. It just shows the problems we get into when we let our ego make a decision best left to our head. She is a capable journalist, but I feel she is at home doing a combination of heavy news and light stuff. Soon she will be back on the morning circuit when she is demoted to CBS this morning. Remember Bryant Gumbel???

Hi!
It would be nice if the news really reflected the truth of what happens instead of some journalist's version of the news. And, the newscasters should be
more responsible, also.

I think your suggestion is quite good. They could discuss a lot of things ... but there is a lot of sensationalism in the media.
I think we should ask for better quality programs. I'm sure if enough of us spoke up, things would change.

I think that is probably something that the news directors ( who are from the entertainmente dept) thought was necessary because people get tired of the all of the overblown slanted political stories and the constant hate america rhetoric from the networks....maybe they think people don't care for that as much anymore so they had the head cheerleader do some rah rahs

Yes, by choosing Katie it was a mistake. I stopped watching too and I would much rather watch "news" than the fell good story of the evening! I want to know what is going on NOT what makes me feel good. [I have my kids that make me feel good I don't need syrupy stories for that]

I'm not sure but I think the producers have a little say so on what makes it on the air.

She's just a bit above a talking head....not a whole lot of input.

I think that Katie Couric is overated and generally a piece of trash. I do not see how she became so popular. But thats just my opinion.
