I'm not even sure the celebrities are actually writing that stuff. it is being run by UNICEF, so the celebrities are probably just allowing their names to be used.... (so it is even more shallow than it appears.)

more to the point.... it works.... just by putting celebrity names on the questions, it has made you take enough notice to ask a question, when you otherwise probably would have ignored it.

you are right about the apparent hypocrisy of it (people living lifestyles i could not afford to live for even one day telling us to sacrifice more.) but it is still a tactic that raises awareness.

...yeah, I'd like to know that too....AND...why are they being praised so high for all they do....? They still live in their million dollar mansions ..buying 10 cars or maybe 20`? How can THEY say that they are doing 'everything' to help kids in the 3rd world...or fighting against poverty....or better yet..against global warming. Am sure electricity is high for 20 rooms in a house...
whatever.

The real ones that dedicate their life and time to a good cause are never mentioned....just because they are not celebrities. That's sad!

There are a few of them out there with other interests.
The problem is, so many of them either want to start a new trend, or follow the latest one. Where were African orphans before Madonna? Now everyone else wants one to show how "unprejudiced" they are.
Celebrities live in their own little world. They have no idea how the rest of us live.

Celebrities are generally VERY selfish people who have an incredible feeling of self importance. They try and compensate by taking altruistic stances.
Also, you probably have noticed, they are the most hypercritical people on earth.

They don't necessarily want ANSWERS...they want to make people think about the question.
Seems they do genuinely care about things like children, global warming, etc. But, people see that they are stars, have loads of money and loads of publicity...and pass their causes by. By posting questions they force those who answer to look, ponder and hopefully, resolve to do something themselves.

Maybe because:

- They do care about childrens welfare
- They have limited brain capacity (looks yes, brains no)
- They want to score in the media with something that sounds good

There will be different reasons for different people.

Your giving them too much credit, they do not even think of that question, someone else does and posts it with the celebrity's name.

In order to get into movies, you have to look good. You have to sound good. You have to look / sound like a humanitarian. You don't necessarily have to be one, just look / sound like one. Hence, celebrities claim to want to save the children and have world peace for one reason and one reason only...............it looks good when they are standing there saying this type of crap and keeps their millions-per-movie pay cheque coming in.

Because their writers tell them to for better publicity.
We all know that celebrities are too selfish to care about other people unless money is invloved.
