Nobody here seems to have done their research. The proposed national drivers license that will go into effect next May has a live RFID chip in it. That means that someone standing up to 20 feet away from you can scan you and get all your private info contained within the chip. So yeah, I'd say that's an invasion of privacy. I have no problem carrying a license, I just don't think it should be broadcasting my personal info.

Wouldn't it be the same thing as a state issued driver's license? It would still have all the same information about you. If you think this is an invasion of privacy, then so would a regualr driver's license.

No, that isn't any longer an invasion of privateness. countless places of organisation have recording units in recent times (eg. nook keep, gas station, branch shops, ATMS, etc.) to stay away from robbery, properly? nicely, the accepted is an similar for that reason except that is getting used to discourage human beings from breaking the regulation through dashing and probably hurting/killing others.

I don't see how it's an invasion of privacy. And any law enforcement agency can access DMV records as is. Also with the way things are now the states have to pay for and maintain their respective DMV's, why would the federal government take that over?

Worst. Idea. Ever.
Imagine sitting in an airport terminal when two suited men approach you. "Your papers, please."
Since you haven't done anything wrong you hand over your national ID. They look at it and pass it through their RFID scanner. But wait! You have the same name as a suspected terrorist! So they arrest you and hold you without charge and without any of your Constitutional rights.
Think I'm paranoid? That's fine, but laws have all been passed to this effect. I won't carry anything with an RFID tag with my personal info.

Bad idea, infringement on states rights. There are certain things that the federal government needs to stay out of and this is one.

It's not a bad idea, it just all depends on how far they are going to take it. As long as they don't ask me to take a mark on my right hand or forehead, I'm fine with it.

I wouldnt see it as a bad idea. but i would also assume there is already a national database for driver's lics. so I really don;t see a use in that respect

That would be another Fascist move for the Republican party. I'll stick to my State license myself.
