I want to go somewhere relaxing where i can lounge on the beach all day in the HOT sun (i like it hot!) and go to nice restaurants and shopping malls in the evenings.

I had planned to go to Miami, but after reading alot of other reviews, it doesn't seem as nice as it is made out to be.

Just wondering where else in the US is nice and hot to go to with nice beaches, that is a bit less touristy.

I would like to go in May/June, so would like somewhere that is going to be hot at that time of year! Thanks. If you would like to make suggestions other than the US that would also be great, but no-where where an injection is needed. thanks!

Orlando, Florida is a great place to stay. International Drive is a haven for superb hotels, fantastic restaurants and buzzing nightlife. Sea World and Disney World are a short drive away and there are plenty of resorts within the Disney parks.

Daytona Beach is about 3 hours away down the Interstate, going east. It has a long, white sand beach and warm, clear water. Alongside the beach, there are several shops, restaurants and clubs.

Tampa Bay is a town, about three hours drive west down the interstate. The town is quiet and the nearby resorts of St Petersburg and Clearwater have much to offer. There are several small islands and beaches that wrap the coast for miles.

The water here is mainly warm because Tampa Bay faces the Gulf of Mexico.

June is an ideal time to go. I went in July 2000 and it was above 30 on all of the days we were there. June will probably have more pleasant, warm weather, around 25 degrees or more.

I also recommend Key West, an island just off the coast of Florida.

If you go in May I'd recommend Santa Monica, Calif. Great
beaches and amazing shopping right on the ocean. There
is also the added bonus of nearby Hollywood, Malibu, and
Venice Beach. Great restaurants and interesting people.
If you go down the coast a little further there's La Jolla and
you could explore Baja across the border. Forget it for
June however...too many people and higher hotel rates
Just off the coast is Catalina Island where there are
beautiful beaches also.

The Gulf Coast in Mississippi and western Florida has some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere. Some of the hotels there were damaged by recent hurricanes, but they really want tourist business and often have very good deals.

Sanibel Island and Captiva Island on the west coast of Florida are always pleasant. Plenty of shopping and activities. Plenty of beaches. Not too touristy.
