Freddie Davies
Freddie Davies is a comedian and actor born on 21 July 1937 in Brixton, London. He was brought up in Salford, Manchester.
Freddie became a stand-up comedian, after beginning his career as a holiday camp entertainer. He started on the cabaret circuit in 1964, when he turned professional, and he appeared on Sunday Night At The Palladium and Opportunity Knocks. Freddie also performed his act on ocean cruises with fellow comedian and friend Jim Bowen.
His act featured jokes about budgies, and he eventually picked up the nickname "Parrot Face", partly due to the faces he pulled on stage. He became known as "Freddie "Parrot Face" Davies", wore a bowler hat and became very popular.
In 1974 he had a BBC children's television series, "The Small World of Samuel Tweet". Mr. Tweet worked in a pet shop in Chumpton Green, appearing with many animals during the series. He also appeared in a commercial for Trill budgie seed, with the slogan, "Trill makes budgies bounce with health".
Freddie's other television appearances include Heartbeat, Casualty, Last of the Summer Wine and My Family. In 2004 he appeared in the film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
He still appears in cameo parts of TV from time to time and has a busy schedule as an after dinner speaker.

Bloody hell! I'd forgotten all about him. He's probably dead or set up a commune with Jimmy Crickett and Norman 'Chicken/ dodgy microphone' Collier.

Talk about a blast from the past! Was he funny?

He made an appearance in a June 2005 episode of BBC Television's drama series, "Born and Bred"

Wasn't it only a picture of him, not the man himself in Harry Potter ?

He's still about because he cropped up on one of those "old timers" shows over Christmas but he didn't do his act.
