They can just wake and do the decide part. Maybe you could write down what you don't like about yourself or others. Then you could improve and be a better person by eliminating things first. That always starts the ball rolling!! It takes a lot of effort but what choice do you have? We are all here to improve ourselves in this lifetime!! So Go For It!! Good Luck!! @8-)

I once felt the same thing. I still am improving myself as a person, but I have made great strides with three simple steps.
1. Learn to let it be- You live your life fighting everything that happens, you feel that you need to get ahead of everyone else. But it is man kinds drive for power and superiority that leads to violence and the loss of Innocent lives. Just let things happen. I feel that if it happens, it was meant to happen.
2. Acceptance- You need to learn how to accept others, and how to accept yourself the way you and them are. Once you overcome this you will no longer feel the need to insult people in defense of your self.
3. Be a Samaritan- You should do good things for people purely because it is the right thing. Whether they thank you or not, or feel that it was necessary, it may help you feel better about yourself.
That is what I am doing and it is working very well.

Sure, but just like anything else it takes time. I start by doing little things for people through out the day, like if someone is trying to cross the street w/out a cross walk, slow down and let them cross. Say hello to someone you do not know or say good morning. I usually try to do at least one good deed a day. I stay in check that way.

If the person understands his mistakes and weaknesses well and he/she is really interested in changing it. Then, it is not magic to change himself or herself in a day. It needs intensive effort and patience along with determination to change.

Sure. You can change your thought patterns through habit. Strive to be more empathetic and imagine what it's like to walk in another's shoes. Do this with every interaction you have.
