Just to add my 2 points, is that on some DVD players, and some computers, the DVD drive has multiple region settings, which means you can play DVDs from anywhere. This helps because I am in New Zealand and work at a DVD store and some of the DVD are in Zone 1(American) and my friends send me over DVDs from Japan (different zone) so I can play them all on my laptop
