Kick her out and take her to court. It will only cause more problems if you keep her possessions.

No, you cannot keep her belongings just because she hasn't paid. What you can do is kick her out and sue her for what she owes. Did you sign an agreement that she would pay you and how much and how often? If not, you're probably screwed. Keep in mind that if you take her stuff you will also be sued and possibly charged with theft.

Why would you wait 5 weeks before doing something about this situation?

A verbal agreement is as binding as a written one although it can come down to He said, She said in the end.
If this was the agreement then you have every right to hold her computer in lieu of payment.
It's always a good idea to get things in writing. I suggest that you keep your eye on your own stuff.

You need to look up your state laws. Some states will allow that and others will not. You could always have her evicted and take her to court - that's legal in every state.

No, you cannot.

Call your local police department to see if you can legally kick her out. Then you can sue her in small claims courtr for what she owes.

Good luck!
