I"m aware that conservatives in general want lower taxes. I want to know what you think is a good use of tax money. Also, how much should we be taxed in general or for that matter how much should each particular tax be ?

In case it isn't obvious, this question is directed at conservatives in the United States.

Great question! I'm not sure I can do it justice, but here goes:

I have no real problem with income taxes, to pay for defense, infrastructure, and a "safety net" for the "truly needy." (Whether this is at the federal or state level is another matter.) Education also comes to mind.

I'd like to see a tax system that ensures that almost everyone pays something - if fewer than 50% of the voters pay taxes, there's little to stop the majority from taxing the minority to death.

I think there is some maximim percentage of any dollar someone earns - whether it's their first or their billionth - that should be taken in tax. Maybe 1/3 - 33% - is the top marginal rate there should be.

Government should live more within its means. Republicans and Democrats have both proven that they are irresponsible in spending our money. It just goes down a rat-hole.

Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid are functionally bankrupt, or are pretty close. The Social Security "trust fund" has been taken by the US government for operating expenses, and replaced by IOUs! Any private corporation or trustee that operated like our government would be in jail for 1,000 years!!!

I'm not sure I have solutions. I'd CONSIDER a tax increase if every penny (and then some - say 110%) was slated for, and actually went to, deficit reduction). I'd also CONSIDER raising the maximum income subject to Social Security tax - there is a cap of somewhere around $110,000, if memory serves - IF, IF, IF there were some ironclad plan to transition the system to make it solvent, and then phase it down. When it was started, the life expectancy was not much more than 65. Now it's closer to 85, so something must be done. Raise taxes, cut benefits, raise the retirement age. The program does not work, but no one wants to tell the AARP and the public that.

I know something must be done to get health care/insurance prices under control. I don't have details, but my gut tells me a market-based, not government-based, solution is the way to go.

I hope this rant has been halfway helpful. :)

that is an easy one.. I agree with what is written in the founding papers.. roads, schools, military... and a VERY VERY VERY limited get you on your feet program.. but it should be run at a very local level.. give you like 6 months to a year to get on your feet and then cya later no more help for like 5 years... personally i think we would do far better on a national sales tax of some sort.. something like 10% to 14% of total.. which would make more money for the gov.. and should make the most Liberal tard happy... the more you spend the more your taxed

the 16th amendment was never fully ratified. therefore the taxation of your income is technically illegal. but it has come to be a standard, and past court rulings will keep you from winning any case against paying your income tax.
i think completely removing the income tax as a source of revenue, and instead creating a national sales tax of 12-14% on new goods only, would be a solution. not only would you get all the money you earned at work, but think of the money saved by not paying for the IRS, tax lawyers, and whoever else makes money off the incredibly complex current tax code.
i think this is also called a flat tax, but i'm not entirely sure.

I'm not conservative but I guess I'll put my views in as well. I'm Libertarian, we believe that taxes should be to its lowest form. That goes for welfare, social security, and healthcare. We also go against taxes to increase military power and corporate welfare. We do approve of voluntary organizations to help those in need such as the salvation army and others.

Conservative RedsStaters want a poor tax and a death tax.

The plan is to work people to death then utilize their carcase for redeemable body parts to pay their overdue poor tax.

The only taxes we need are those that will be used to pick up my garbage and help me get chickweed out of my lawn.

they support Hilary Clinton because she's a warmonger, she voted for the Iraq war, and is threatening war against Iran.
