It might not be wise to send your pupil to a voice teacher who is used only to adults, but there is without question much which a young singer could learn which would stand her in good stead later in life. Especially if you think she has or might have the ability and interest to be a voice major, now is not too early. (An opera-singer friend of mine, for example, started lessons at the age of eight.) This is especially true in an era when the most dreadful garbage is held out as singing. If she is not taught the proper techniques now, for example, it may be all but impossible to teach her later about supporting the voice. Support is something which never goes away, whatever the maturity of the voice. The same is true of phrasing. She must be learning that as a string player, but it doesn't always translate a easily as you might expect. The choir can't be relied upon. Choral singing is more about listening (to each other) than singing, in some ways, and the techniques are different. As to vibrato, I'm not sure that it is necessary, wise, or even possible to teach vibrato. It's just something which happens naturally to a properly-trained voice, in my view. Singing without vibrato, on the other hand, does sometimes need to be taught (for early music).

I can sing. Long ago, I'd decided if I wanted a music career, I'd prefer to be a back-up singer than lead or solo. I have more fun with harmonies than melodies.

I'd front a hard rock group. We'd be called Blackie Haviland and the Rumble Strips. I'd have a bad haircut, wear leather pants and a tight tshirt, sunglasses, and have a drinking problem.
