and can they all be used at the same time to plug 4 differant sets ram upgrade or can ya use just the blue or the black??

I can plug the ram chips into either side but they are at the moment in the blue side the slots are the same its a COMPAQ PRESARIO..... I KNOW I WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT ITBUT IT WASEN'T ME

It depends on the motherboard manufacturer. If you want a good answer, please list the manufacturer and model number for your motherboard.

It could be that one color is bank1 and the other is bank2 (or 0/1, as the case may be) or it could be something else such as one bank being for higher performance ram, etc. etc. etc. There is no way of knowing without the manufacturer and model number.

Without knowing what mobo you have, usually one color indicates DDR and the other color indicates DDR2 RAM. Youi can use either or, but not both together.

If you look closely at the slots, you will probably see that the notch in them is different between the colors. This indicates a different pin set for different types of memory.
