This varies from person to person. My mother had trouble concieving after being on the pill - it took her nearly 5 years. My sister concieved just 5 weeks after stopping the pill. My recommendation would be to stop the pill now and use an alternate form of protection until you are ready to try.

Be very careful!! I know lots of women who had an idea that it takes time for the pill to get 'out of your system' so they have come off the pill and got pregnant the very first month!
You are very fertile when you come off the pill and it can easily happen very quickly, especially if your cycle returns to normal straight away.
Doctors tend to recommend coming off the pill for at least a month before you start trying, but this is really so that the pregnancy can be dated more easily rather than because the pill stays in your system.
If it's really important to you to not get pregnant in the next year, then stay on the pill for another 10 months or so.
I came off the pill after 13 years, and used condoms for 2 months, then the very first time we put on the condom a few minutes late, I got pregnant!

It took me 3 months but I was only actually trying for one month. It doesn't usually take any time for the pill to get out of your system, which is why you are able to fall pregnant if you accidentally miss one. However, it can take a few months for your cycle to become regular after coming off the pill, which is what can cause a prob in trying to conceive as you may not know when you are ovulating or when your period should come etc.

I think since you've been on the pill for such a long time, I personally would get off the pill now. (And definitely by 6 months prior to wanting to get pregnant.) You just need to give your body time to figure out how to get back to normal.
Pesonally, I was on the pill for 4 years, went off immediately, got pregnant immediately, and have a healthy son. Unfortunately, I know some people who are having trouble conceiving--and they think it's from the pill (although this hasn't been backed up medically).
SO, I think you'll be fine--just go ahead and get off the pill as soon as possible.
Good luck!

Some women are lucky and can conceive right away after coming off the pill. I was on it for about 5 years, went off for a year while my husband was gone and after another year of him being home, I still had to have help concieving. I hope you don't have that much trouble.

Since you are already planning a pregnancy in the near future consider going off the pill and start using vaginal spermicide inserts. Less chemicals in your system as you only use it before sexual activity. They are nice too in that they offer some lubrication and require a 15 minute wait, so you can have some cuddling/prep time with your mate. I used these and was able to conceive when I was ready. Good luck.

Well you should start taking folic acid now they do advise you start taking that at least 1 year before you want to start trying and continue during pregnancy. as for coming off the pill it differs for everyone you could come off it and get pregnant straight away but then again it could take you months, it all depends on the woman.i have 2 friends who came off the pill to try and one got pregnant the following month and the other it took over 1 year so its completely up to you. good luck x

My husbands family individuals has had not something yet abode births with all of their infants. His mom had 5 childrens, her mom had 12 childrens and his dads first spouse had 4 childrens, and out of all those births in basic terms a million went horribly incorrect. i think of that's thoroughly as much as the mum again to a determination, that's some thing which you will possibly desire to do extensive examine on and as long as you're soft and nicely knowledgeable each little thing might desire to be superb. My husbands grandma lost a sprint one from the chord being wrapped around the neck and that they lived contained in definitely the midsection of nowhere, there grew to become into no way they might get her any sort of help. only be sure you have a plan if some thing is going incorrect.

There are so many diff answers to this question cuz everyones diff. But i would ask your doctor about this.
I heard that your should be off the pills for at least 3 months and then start but it might be diff for you. you can get off the pills now and use a condom but that isnt alwasy 100% safe also.
You have to see if you get regulated first and then see if you are fertile.
I suggest that you go see your docor and see what is the best solution is for you
good luck
