Why do people buy into that whole thing??? Let's look at this example.....9-11-2001 adds up to 23. No it DOES NOT!!! It is 9+11+2001. That does not equal 23. it equals 2021. Why do people try and manipulate things to make something out of them???

Amaloli....by YOUR way of calculating, it would be 9+1+1+2+0+0+1=14. If you are going to break down the 2001 into seperate numbers, why would you not do that with the 11?????? That is my point!!! Do it whatever way to suit your purpose!!!

Oh trust me, I am not the least "bent" about it!! It is not just a movie either. The funny thing is that there are people who think there is a connection between all kinds of events revolving around the number 23!! Kinda some cosmic thing!

In numerology, and I could be mistaken, this would end up being 5 and not 23.
For example 3/01/1971 (my birthday) = 3+1+1+9+7+1 = 22
If I was born on the second of March though (3/02/1971), my 'Number' would be 5 as in (3+2+1+9+7+1)=23 =( 2+3 )= 5.
(In Numerology you keep adding the numbers even when your result is a double digit number. The only 2 exceptions are 11 and 22 which are supposed to be special - supposedly.)
I'll have to agree that 'things' are being manipulated for the sake of the movie.
I guess all depends on the 'rules' one imposes when adding the numbers.

That's true. No matter how you add the numbers, you can't add them with any shadow of consistency or coherence to form 23.
If you add 9 + 11 + 2001 to get 23, then you are adding 9 + 11, but treating the sum as different from the sum of all the numbers in 2001. No consistency. Well, that usually is what most ridiculous "number connections" are.
Like, watch me make a freak coincidence. Oooh, did you know that Israel became a free-state in 1940? And there were 40 days and nights of rain during Noah's trip? And memorials occur, in the Catholic Church, 40 days after someone's death? Wow, the number 40 is now full of conspiracy.
Non-sense. People crave attention and love to scare people--and they love to use the most emotional, spiritual events as their medium.

Actually, if you add up the digits you get 9+1+1+2+1 = 14 and 1+ 4 = 5. And 23 is really 5. Why would you want to stop before you added all the digits up? Or are we being told to do it until it proves what they, whoever they are, want it to prove?
The whole thing is dumb and anyone who even entertains that there is any credibility in it needs professional help.
To the next poster. Isn't that a bit contrived? Adding the day of the month and the month into one and the year into another digit and summing the digits of the year but not the month? Why not add the day 9 = 9 and the month and year 1+1+2+1= 5 making 95!!!!! And that is much worse!!!!!

There are probably at least 1723 possible answers to that....
What I find fascinating though is the enduring power of the wish. While full-blown Christians would have an epi-fit at the thought of rituals preformed in order to alter reality, the sweet, ancient power of a wish slips through under all the radars.
Older than Christian prayers or Pagan rituals, it is probably one of the most effective mystical tools ever created. If, that is, and it is a big if, you believe that wishes come true. Which of course everyone secretly does or the humble wish would have fallen out of favour decades ago!
Wishes and 23's.
Secret mystical doctrines?
Another example of synchronicity?
Or simply mankinds everburning desire to express the part of ourselves which is truely magic?
Mind and matter. Matter and mind.
Why is everyone so obsessed with 9/11 anyway? Or 23's?
Make a wish instead!

Ahem.
Maybe if you'd like to actually count, you'd find it does.
9 + 11 = 20 right?
2 + 0 + 0 + 1 = 3 right?
23.

Because they're trying to get you to go see a crappy movie. Yahoo has spent about a brazillian bucks trying to establish this fine "community", dammit, so now they're going to monetize us until the cows come home.
Next week's celebrity answerer will be Jessica Simpson, who will ask how her boobs can help save the world (and sell more of her records).
