If it relatively is stripped, it relatively is conceivable it is going to leak, and/or fall out. If that happens whilst occurring the line at 70, the probabilities of blowing up the engine in the previous you spot the pink fool gentle telling you the oil rigidity has dropped are severe. So bypass see your mechanic, and have the stripped one bumped off, then have a self tapping over sized one put in. issue solved. yet sure, it relatively is conceivable to alter motor oil without removing the drain plug. you will get a pump with a hose that is going into the dip stick hollow and eliminates the previous oil that way. Or, (no longer cautioned), do away with the clear out, place a seize pan under the clear out and run the engine in basic terms long sufficient to offload all the oil out.

The nuts on drain pans for American cars and trucks are always turned counterclockwise (to the left) to loosen. WARNING: Unless you want to ruin your drain nut, you should use a crescent wrench to loosen it. 12-point wrenches and 12-point sockets are notorious for destroying drain nuts. Once you strip it the only way you're going to get it off is with a pair of Vise Grips if you're lucky, and then you'll be buying a new drain nut. It's a lot easier to just use a large adjustable crescent wrench.

Counter clockwise, or to the left. Always. It doesn't change just because it's on the lowest part of the oil pan.

After you have it out, clean the surface well, make sure the washer is still on, replace if well worn.

Righty - Tighty
Lefty - Loosie

(counter-clockwise) with a box end wrench. An open end wrench will just damage the head of the bolt.
