My daughter developed a rash on her chest about two weeks ago. The bumps look like small pimples, and covered her upper chest, shoulders, and upper back. When I took her to the doctor, she said my daughter just had dry skin, and suggested I bathe her less often (twice a week), use less or no soap and apply moisturizer daily. I did this, but the rash is still there, and now it's spread to her lower abdomen. Any suggestions? Should I take her back to the doctor?

I should mention that I breastfeed exclusively, and that she's been fussier than normal lately, but has never yet had a high temperature.

Get a strep test. Some forms of strep don't have the usual symptoms like high fever or sore throat. They typically develop on the chest back and abdomen It could also be a viral rash. Two weeks is a long time and it doesn't sound like the typical dry skin rash. It sounds more like a virus or a bacterial rash. Definitely take her back to the doctor and if he isn't willing to give any ther suggestions request a referral for a dermatologist. That way if it is strep or bacterial rash the dermatologist will be able to tell you that, and if it is allergies or dermatitis he/she can give your daughter the care she needs.

Did the rash develop after she had a very high temp (103-105)?
It could be roseola, but that usually goes away after about a week.

lots of babies get things that make them look not normal.this does not mean they are not healthy.don't forget this child just recently came out of the most perfect environment there is for babies. so a little bit of erupting of toxins is right in order. also are you using formula? this can bring it on .it will go away..try a good baby lotion with lanolin in it, daily ..if it's gets worse suddenly then get her to a doctor.
