Is UCLA a good college to go to for a film career? Is there a better choice? And also, is Los Angeles a "nice" (for lack of a better word) city?

Are you being serious? Do you know where Hollywood is? Have you heard of Hollywood?

Los Angeles is like any large metropolis. It's got nice areas, and bad areas. Being the home of Hollywood and the entertainment industry, there's a more emphasis on "flash" and celebrity and showing off than in other big cities. The natives typically break into two camps: the ones who are totally into celebrities, and the ones who could care less (I mean, REALLY care less).

The only school better than UCLA for film would be USC, also in Los Angeles. No big surprise since the entertainment (particularly movies) industry is based in LA. Both schools are internationally known for all their academic programs, but their film departments are the best in part because they're located right next to the heart of the industry.

You are kidding right? Is UCLA a good film school? It depends whether or not you want to be film maker, director and for what reason? If you just want to make home movies and show them to your friends and parents. Go to Iowa. Nothing against Iowa.
If you want to become a serious film director or have a serious career in film. IT 's TOPS!!! Not to mention the caliber of other film people you will be in contact with. Look who graduated from there. UCLA area is beauiful. I went to USC but would rather have my kids go to UCLA.

UCLA or USC are the best in the country for film.

Is Los Angeles a "nice" city? Los Angeles is a big city and you have to be a big boy to survive.

If you are immature you will either grow up quickly or fail to thrive in Los Angeles.

Full Sail University is a scam. It is not regionally accredited, so if you earn credits there and decide that you want to transfer to another school, you're out of luck because the credits won't transfer. They have it set up that way on purpose to retain students who realize what a joke the whole place is and that they're paying $75k to earn a degree that is worth less in the long run than an Associate's Degree from their local community college.
