It's not impossible. I had about the same GPA and am now finishing my Ph.D. at very good major state university. Success depends on a couple things...I went to a top five state university for my undergrad and picked a very difficult major. I also had great GRE scores. My low GPA was result of not going to class and too much extracurricular activity. It was lack of effort not lack of intelligence.

I would suggest you take a GRE prep course or at least buy a Princeton Review GRE study guide. You need the GRE for most grad programs. You need to demonstrate you academic maturity and be able to explain why you will do well in grad school.

I don't think you should go to grad school without having some program in mind. However, you might select an education program. Most education masters program usually have lower admission standards and GRE scores (you can verify this in US News and World Report grad rankings, education always has lower average GREs).

If you can afford it, you might try to get a one year master's degree at a local state school to demonstrate your ability to do academic work and then go for a better degree at a better school.

You messed up on the GPA, but can make it up with a great GRE score.

you can get into a TON of different MA programs, but I dont know of any PhD programs that would take you. Also, you didnt list your GRE score and that matters a lot. You need to get a book from Peterson's or Princeton Review that lists all the graduate schools in a specific area, then chekc out their admissions requirements. You will see that some schools accept over 90% of their applicants. UNLV, Akron, Arizona St., Florida St., Kansas st., St. Johns, DePaul, etc. All of these schools accept high rates of people in many different programs. Good luck
