Try to find a soap that you can tolerate, and wash your face at least three times a day, no make-up.
Keep hair and hands off your face.
Drink enough water.

Good Luck

You know what, I have been going to the dermatologist for over ten years with acne issues. I have a major problem with it because it was passed down in my genes. I have boughten creams like proactive, over the counter miracle creams, clinque three step system and etc. Nothing worked, even the medicines and creams that were given by the doctor- which were at least $100 each one and you had to use a few at a time! The thing that I found that works like a miracle is very inexpensive.

1. Aveeno Moisturing/Cleansing Soap for oily skin
2. Aveeno Moisturing Daily lotion

The lotion is a little more than the other cheap brands at the drug or grocery store however they are worth it! The lotion is under $10 and the soap is under $3. The will last a long time also. For me, these two things were my only solutions! Make sure you cleanse your face (gently rub) wtih soap for at least 20 seconds each time. Plus, remember also to dab dry your face - don't rub. Good Luck! This will clear up your face in about two weeks - results are seen after a few days - really!

Avoid commercial skin products completely. These only serve to block your pores so that they can't breathe at all. The lotion or soap itself may feel soothing, but it is doing serious damage in the process.

Get some pine tar soap in either bar or liquid form and wash the affected areas with this. Rinse with a solution of 50% apple cider vinegar and 50% warm water. Pat dry rather than rubbing. Additionally, ingest at least a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar every day. You can add it to your apple juice or a glass of water or make a kind of tea with it by adding it to a cup of steaming water or have a salad with apple cider vinegar and oil as the dressing. This will help work on the problem from the inside while you are working on the problem on the surface.

Pine tar soap is a specialty item that might not be readily available in most stores. The best place to find it is on ebay. Just type in the key words "pine tar soap" and you will find it readily available by home soap makers. There is a business that caters to primarily back-to-the-land types and the Amish communities called Lehmans. The link to pine tar soap is included below.

Pine tar soap is an effective cleanser for all types of skin problems including acne, psoriasis, eczema, itches, rashes and even diaper rash on babies.

I used "accutane", but I think that it is illegal now. It sure worked thought. It was very dangerous and had to be prescribed by a dermatologist, and you had to get monthly blood tests while on it. My skin dried out sooooo bad that it flaked and I had to put lotion on my face, hands and body to keep from falling apart. But after the bad beginning, it began to kill all the acne as well, it took about 6 months to finish. Now 3 years later, I have no acne besides the occasional zit that pops up, but who doesnt have those? Females have to sign a paper saying that they will have an abortion/or be on birth control while taking this medicine. Males have to sign saying they will not have sex, and if they do and impregnate someone they can serve jailtime. Apparently there are very serious birth defects. Read up on it on the website.

I am 50 years old and had acne all my life and so do my twenty something girls. I have very oily thick skin. I finally found something cheap. I buy Oregano oil, I buy NOW brand. A small bottle is only $12.00 and lasts 6 months. It is very powerful stuff and every body's skin is more sensitive than mine.. You must dilute it with liquid soap or a creme. I buy a cheap face wash for acne with salacycilic acid in it and add enough drops to the bottle to make it work where it will not harm my face. It will reduce pore size for a bout 4 hours and acts as an antibacterial agent. Once a week If I put a teaspoon of this face soap in a cup I might add eight drops of oregano oil and mix with a cotton swab and test that on my face with a wash cloth. Do not get near the eye or the upper lip. If it burns apply more soap, if you can't feel anything add a few more drops of oregano oil. If I apply oregano oil full strength to a scar I will get a chemical burn for a week but the scar will be diminished. If I treated this scar every week for months I believe the scar would be gone. It is already half gone. I have gotten rid of age spots on my face also. My 22 year old daughter likes this. I also put one drop of NOW oregano oil in my dry skin lotion and put this on my legs. It will get rid of the winter itch. You will smell like oregano for awhile so do it at night. I have seen a wart disappear before my eyes when applying full strength. If you put oregano oil in water from your toilet bowl it probably will kill all organisms but you wouldn't want to drink it.

Stay away from sugar and the birth control pill because they may affect your hormones and sugar metabolism.

I would see a dermatologist anyways because they are the only ones that are going to know what creams or other prescription medications will work on your type of skin.

Rather then involving half the world in your problems, why don't you go see your Doctor and ask him what ou use for your acne. Don't you think his answer would be more helpful then someones in Yaktucktuck?
